Selfridge & Co unveiled their Enchanted Selfridges Christmas windows 2014. So this week London’s famous Oxford street began to look a lot like Christmas. Oxford Street will be one of the busiest Christmas shopping destinations in town this holiday season.
Selfridge’s are one of the first major stores to kick of the decorating of London for this years festivities. However the competition will soon be unveiling their Festive window displays and lights. So over the next couple of weeks the whole of the city will also follow suit with Christmas lights being switched on. The annual swithing on of the lights on major shopping streets are huge events. Also seeing the decorating of every major store and street in town is a popular evening out for families.
The art of storytelling
For 2014, Christmas at Selfridges celebrates the art of storytelling and the power of enchantment. Each window evokes a surreal fairytale or children’s storybook classic, each with a unique Selfridges twist, of course. From Rapunzel’s cascading pink dip-dyed hair, to the not-so-ugly duckling in an exclusive AF Vandevorst feathered dress, this is a high-fashion fairytale affair.
