So the Regent Street Christmas Lights Switch-On event was this week. Regent Street kicked off the festive season on the 15th November.
The Spirit of Christmas
The largest Christmas lights installation in the capital. Regent Street is renowned for its awe-inspiring ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ lights. These stunning suspended spirits look phenomenal. Inspired by Regent Street’s very first Christmas lights. Which were also the first ever central London Christmas lights. First bringing the spirit of Christmas to town back in 1954.
Londoners and visitors alike were invited to a traffic-free Regent Street. To celebrate the switch-on moment. Soaking up the celebratory atmosphere as we also enjoy the entertaining switch-on show.
A star-studded switch-on show preceded the lights. West-End musical showstopper Dream girls performed some of the show’s feel good hits. Also British superstar Calum Scott performed getting the party started. A large crowd watched the event live on stage. Also large screens all along Regent Street showed on stage events.
Jodie Whittaker, British actor and also the first female to play The Doctor in Doctor Who, pressed the switch on button. Alongside Heart Radio’s Breakfast presenters Jamie Theakston and also Sian Welby.
Also a firework show marked the moment the lights lit up. Heralding the start of the festive season on Regent Street. So it’s a must-see if your in town. As the stunning spirits light up once again on London’s most iconic shopping street.
Also there was a traffic-free late-night shopping evening to follow the switch-on. With an array of in-store and on-street surprises. From special shopping events to musical acts. A brass band entertained visitors and shoppers. Also ballet dancers danced along Regent Street below the Christmas lights. Marking the start of the festive season.
