Patty and Bun Burgers London Soho – visit and review
In today’s vlog I visit Patty and Bun Burgers in London’s Soho. I try the Classic Ari Gold Burger, Chips with Chicken skin salt + roast chicken mayo. I also try a delicious hazelnut milkshake made with Gelupo Gelato.
I review the new drinks menu and some of the new specials for this location. Soho serves the signature dishes but also specials which differ from the James street, Liverpool Street and London Fields restaurants. I then head to The Chandos pub by London’s Trafalgar Square for a pint of Samuel Smiths beer and check out the drinks on offer.
Patty & Bun burgers
Patty & Bun burgers are often voted the best burgers in London by thoose in the know. They have a few stores now including, James Street, Liverpool Street, London Fields, a mobile truck and now Soho.
Patty and Bun burgers having just opened the week I visited in London’s Soho at 18 Old Compton Street is the latest addition.
Smack-bang in the middle of the West End in Londons Soho it is sure to be a hit as Soho attracts a massive influx of party people every evening and especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
As the shoppers and Tourists call it quits late afternoon they are replaced by new visitors. First by theatre goers looking for a pre theatre drink or bite to eat. Then they transitions into post work drinkers, bar crawlers, clubers and on this street glamorous gay-scene posers and they can all find pubs, bars restaurants and nightclubs to accommodate them in this diverse neighbourhood.
And Patty & Bun burgers hopes to appeal to them all.
However soho is a bit of a cinerella story in terms of a late night curfew – things can get pretty ugly in the early hours when the music stops and the revellours hit the streets once again. So I thought I would go early evening as the party was just about to get started and not beat the crowds, they are constant but hopefully beat the queues.
They have a few new dishes, specialities for this site – however The most notable addition to this patty and bun is a cocktail bar.
New dishes for the menu include:
Roast Chicken skin with maple syrup and Patty&Bun’s home made hotsauce
Fried Chicken with Urfa chilli butter and lemon
The bar menu is by Berber & Q’s head bartender, Danny Varley and includes:
Patty & Bullshit: Bourbon, Aperol, Maraschino, Lemon sugar and bitters
And a tribute to The Stockpot, which was the restaurant formerly on this site The Stockpot Sour – a sour mixed with Gin, Amaretto, Amaro and Honey, lemon, sugar & egg.
Ari Gold Gold Burger
On this trip I get the classic Ari Gold Gold Burger. Which is an Aged Beef Patty, Cheese, Smokey P&B Mayo, Pickled Onions, Ketchup, Lettuce, Tomato, all in a Brioche bun. Its an amazing burger and deserves its place on all the towns top burger lists on which it always scores highly.
I also try the Chips with Chicken Skin Salt & Roast Chicken Mayo which are a perfect side to any burger on the menu.
After a Burger and fries and Patty and Bun Burgers I head to a pub for a pint. I decide on the Chandos Pub by Trafalgar Square.
The reason I head to the Chandos pub for my YouTube vlog is because it’s a Samuel smiths pub and this is what all the tourists are looking for but very few find – a real British pub.
The Chandos is a real British pub, its not pretending to be one it is one, so its not trying to be glamorous. There are no screens showing sports and no music, just people, drinks and chat.
Samuel smiths is an independent British brewery in up in Tadcaster, in Yorkshire. It’s also the counties oldest operating brewery having been founded in 1758.
Also Samuel Smiths pubs only sell Samuel Smiths drinks. So no imported foreign beers. So I have no clue what to order because most pubs and bars only sell imported brands and beers. However the barmaid talks me through what is available.
