Herman Ze German
The Herman Ze German menu is all about German sausage. From the signs to the slogans they clearly have a sense of humour. However beyond the silly sign they clearly take what they do, sausage, very seriously.
They import the sausages from the black forest in Germany. So from the two shops in London you can get a proper taste of Germany.
They serve three types of sausage permanently and one guest sausage. You can choose from Chilli beef sausage, Brockwurst and bratwurst. The chilli beef sausage made using pork, beef and chilli. The Brockwurst is a smoked pork sausage. And the Bratwurst is a pork and veal sausage.
All sausages are served either in a roll as a hotdog or as currywurst. In a roll you have a choice of toppings including melted cheese, gherkins, jalapenos, curry sauce, crispy onions and sauerkraut.
As currywurst the sausage comes chopped and covered in a mild curry sauce. Served with a side of French fries and with the same topping options as the rolls. All the sausages are gluten free and lactose free. The sausages firstly cooked by parboiling making each one very soft and tender. And then they grill them to order which gives them a freshly barbequed exterior.
The restaurants have seating so you can enjoy your sausage sitting in Herman Ze German. Its really fast food so take away is usually how I get mine. Each order is ready very quickly so it makes a fantastic German alternative to sandwiches or burgers.
Definitely recommend a visit to Herman Ze German. The sausage is a delicious alternative to the ubiquitous burger. The one in villiers street is best for take away and the one in Soho has more seating over two floors so is the better option for dining in.
